The Mission of Emerge-Ministry.com
Law Enforcement Officers, 911 Dispatchers, Firefighters, Emergency Medical Workers, and Healthcare Workers face insurmountable challenges brought on by the worst of the human condition. Where an emergency is but a rarity in the eyes of the majority, it is the everyday grind for the formerly mentioned professionals. As Emergency Responders, we are kidding ourselves if we believe facing the darkest parts of society doesn’t darken us too. Cynicism, pessimism, and bitterness towards humanity have tainted our ranks and are often openly joked about and celebrated by our subculture. When reproved of these follies, we counter with, “it’s a defense mechanism.”

What if “it’s a defense mechanism” is simply a copout to make us happy? Is it our way of diverting the hard truth? Put another way, is making fun of others, distrusting people, and expecting only the worst from those we serve a Godly perspective? I don’t think it is. The growing cynic and pessimistic world view is a product of our exposure to crime, violence, trauma, and death. It’s a symptom of a perpetuated disease caused by our exposure to emergencies. We need to face the facts; the same harrowing experiences and emotions that take place in other’s emergencies do affect us. It’s okay to admit we are human and not heroes. So, where do we go from here?
Psalms 121:1-2 (HCSB)
1
I lift my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help com from?2
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
As the Psalmist says, our help comes from the Lord! It also comes from the word that brings us pain: Emergency. The name Emerge is a direct tie, a root word of Emergency. Emerge is a Faith-Based site created to engage, equip, and connect with fellow Christian Emergency Responders. It desires to create a counter-culture within the ranks. A culture where Christ is the strength, hope, and desire of our hearts. An everlasting joy that conquers our “defense mechanisms” and replaces it with the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-23)
. It is a blog site for contributors and readers alike to emerge and rise from the ashes of their emergencies. Enjoy!
